One of the city’s oldest and most distinguished neighborhoods, Old Town is adorned with tree-lined streets, distinctive architecture, and lovely brick construction. Today, Old Town is considered an affluent and historic neighborhood, home to many of Chicago’s Victorian-era buildings. In 1977, the Old Town Triangle area was designated a Chicago Landmark District and presently boutiques, galleries, restaurants, nightclubs, and coffee shops can be found here.
Shopping in Old Town provides a wonderful opportunity to buy everything from original works of art to unique fashion designs. Check out boutiques like Mint to find the finest array of Chicago designers and stop in Eliana Lily to customize a handbag from scratch. Men who are looking for a new top or pant are encouraged to check out the hip styles of Haberdash. Also, visit high-fashion designer Nicole Miller’s eponymous boutique and make a quick trip to Josephine’s shoe store, which is housed right next door.
While in Old Town, be sure to stop in Handle With Care, though one of Old Town’s oldest boutiques, it remains one of the freshest. Need a little extra energy for those last few boutiques? Adobo Grill is a hot spot for delicious, authentic Mexican food. Afterwards, if you’re an early evening shopper, step into Spoon to share your findings for the day with friends over a cocktail.
