Located on the near northwest side of Chicago, in the community of greater West Town, remnants of historic Bucktown are evident in the hundred-year-old buildings and cobblestone paths. Today, this area boasts a thriving nightlife, an array of independent shops, and home to many small and independent businesses.
Bucktown’s shopping is truly an experience each time you venture out. Sitting next to Wicker Park on Milwaukee and Damen Avenue, Bucktown has developed over the last 10 years into a hotbed for fashion seekers.
During your visit, start north on Damen at Robin Richman’s Eponymous boutique. This shop is filled with Robin’s own designs, including wearable art and cutting-edge fashion. Frequently you can find pieces from other local designers at eponymous as well. If shopping for your family, The Red Balloon offers fashionable children’s clothing, sweet accessories, and great home pieces for the little one’s bedroom. Some other popular shop spots include Michelle Tan’s boutique, Malabar, and Soutache for ribbons, trims, and other fabrics for the designer or scrapbook fan.
Venture farther south on Damen Avenue and you’ll run into some well-known favorites such as p.45 and Helen Yi. But if it’s the fashion-centric male for which you shop, head east on North Avenue to TK for Men. Need a sweet treat or a gourmet surprise? Check out Hot Chocolate to get your chocolate fix or Le Bouchon for a delectable French meal.
