HapaChick designs are inspired by many things—-a love of travel, fascination with pop culture, visual art, music, food and last, but not least, the rollercoaster ride of being a first-time mom! With that being said, I also aim to insert a little spunk, originality, and humor into each design. Most importantly, my intention is to create comfortable, wearable, and affordable garments. All HapaChick garments are thoughtfully created and carefully executed in limited editions, allowing for each item to embrace its own character and integrity. This also ensures that each piece is as precious as the next!
The word “Hapa” is a Hawaiian slang word commonly used to describe individuals like myself, who are of mixed racial heritage, usually with partial roots in Asian and/or Pacific Islander ancestry (my father is Japanese and my mother is European). The other half of the name, “Chick” refers to my husband Andrew’s childhood nickname.
