Biography

Tracey Mayer developed her passion for hand-crafted jewelry after several trips to South Asia where she spent countless hours side by side with the local artisans watching them create magnificent pieces of art.

“My design ideas come from many sources, however the underlying sense of peace I find while visiting Indonesia and India, promotes a great deal of creativity. I am inspired to create simply by watching my artisans hand-create my pieces of jewelry, translating my visions into a finished product”, says Tracey Mayer of her collection.

Tracey delivers her hand-picked stones up to the remote mountainous regions of Indonesia where they are carved by artisans who have been born into particular areas of expertise and have learned from generations of stone carvers. Overseen by a European creative consultant who ensures the highest quality of craftsmanship to the production, each piece may vary slightly from the next, a clear indication of the work being done by hand.

Tracey’s intellectual approach to designing jewelry allows the designer to be innovative not only with the designs but with the metal treatments as well. Tracey works with 950 silver, which is 2.5% higher in purity than sterling silver and gives the metal a brighter and whiter finish.

In addition to using polished and hammered finishes to the metal, Tracey has created her signature sandblasted finish, which resembles very fine sandpaper. She also created an award winning technique that gives the metal a melted appearance.

Tracey resides in Chicago where she is a member of Mayor Daley’s Fashion Advisory Council. She is passionate about the philanthropic sector of the business. She supports an orphanage in India and spends time with the children during each trip abroad. Her ultimate goal is to fund her own orphanage in India. She is also an active volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Tracey Mayer designs feature authentic coins from China and India, black and white carved mother of pearl as well as many other precious and semi-precious stones including black sapphire, ruby and pearls. Her necklaces, cufflinks, earrings, rings, money clips, belt buckles and bracelets range in price from $250 – $1,700.
