Tangee Harris Pritchett earned her degree in Fashion Retailing, minor in marketing from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Upon graduation, Tangee complemented her education with professional experience in retail management at Rich’s Atlanta and Lillie Ruben Atlanta. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Tangee relocated to Lillie Ruben Chicago. Becoming tired of the fashion industry, she next developed her business acumen by working in the financial industry as a registered representative for Chicago brokerage firm Wayne Hummer & Co. After two years of the highly stressful industry, Tangee decided to leave corporate America and start her own business. She went back to her first love of fashion and started designing women’s apparel and baby gift items selling to neighboring boutiques and private clientele. At the same time supplementing her income by freelancing for Marshall Field’s fashion office as a fashion stylist. Upon client request for bedding designed for her own personal use, Tangee Inc was launched.
The Tangee Inc design philosophy is based on clean lines, unique textures and a deep understanding of luxurious fabrics. The Serenity home collection is designed with the Tangee Inc signature use of sensuous faux suede and leather. The Collection has been featured in fine retail stores and galleries in Chicago, New York and Boston, including Elements, lille and Akainyah Gallery, Chicago; Felissimo and Bark New York and Persona, Boston. In 2000, the Fashion Group International of Chicago honored t.bag in the accessories category of the “Style Makers & Rule Breakers” awards ceremony. In 2001, the Chicago icon Marshall Field’s bestowed t.bag with the “Distinction In Design” award. Echoing the same clean lines, unique textures and luxurious materials found in the Tangee Inc bedding collection, t.bag incorporate the signature use of faux suede with semi-precious gemstones and exotic shells.
