Julie Schmidt is the artist behind Juliet Jewelry. She lives and works in the city of Chicago, Illinois. Her line of women’s jewelry combines her extensive experience in retailing with her love of shapes, fine details and architecture. She grew up in the Midwest, where her passion for art and design began at an early age... much of which was influenced by her mother and father. Julie was encouraged to look beyond the obvious to discover more intricate color combinations and unexpected proportions. Julie was challenged to visualize details, texture, and balance, to play with positive and negative space transforming those ideas into works of art. Drawing from her experiences living on the West and East coasts and traveling through Italy, Julie began designing a contemporary beaded jewelry line called Juliet Jewelry in 1994. This line was inspired by an unexpected stop in Verona, Italy, where she fell in love with the city and the courtyard of Romeo and Juliet. Then in 1998, Julie’s passion led her to create jewelry on a full-time basis, and her line of beaded jewelry grew. In mid-2005 Julie created a new women’s sterling silver line called Life Forms. Word spread fast about her new collection, and she was invited to launch her Life Forms jewelry line during the Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week. Julie creates her jewelry using the finest sterling silver, a strong yet vulnerable medium. All of her jewelry is skillfully crafted and shows the mark of her hand, reflecting the perfect imperfections of Life. Diego Rocha, the Brazilian born handbag designer started out in accounting in the financial field in Sao Paulo, before he began chasing his dream. Fashion is in Diego’s genes. His mother was a pattern-maker, and he grew up playing with needles, scissors, and colorful scraps of cloth. It’s only natural that the fashion industry called to him. Diego is inspired by interesting skins and animals, influenced by growing up in a country known for its huge variety of unusual wildlife. Before choosing Chicago in 2005, Diego lived in New York where he perfected his skills. Creating his own collection, he locked himself in his apartment for six months and experimented with materials, struggling with unsuitable equipment as he taught himself techniques to crystallize his vision. Calvin Tran has brought elegant, modern, and versatile designs to the streets of New York and Chicago with the opening of Calvin Tran in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Tran has said much of his success is attributed to his nonconformist designs and fashion-forward vision. Clients site his keen understanding of a woman’s figure and the personalized attention they receive from Tran and his team. Prior to his creation of Calvin Tran, Calvin was the Creative Director at Zabari, New York. While there, he led the design team to produce classic and clean key wardrobe pieces using leather as his primary material.
