<biography>Julie Schmidt is the artist behind Juliet Jewelry. She lives and works in the city of Chicago, Illinois. Her line of women’s jewelry combines her extensive experience in retailing with her love of shapes, fine details and architecture. She grew up in the Midwest, where her passion for art and design began at an early age... much of which was influenced by her mother and father. Julie was encouraged to look beyond the obvious to discover more intricate color combinations and unexpected proportions. Julie was challenged to visualize details, texture, and balance, to play with positive and negative space transforming those ideas into works of art.
<br><br>
Drawing from her experiences living on the West and East coasts and traveling through Italy, Julie began designing a contemporary beaded jewelry line called Juliet Jewelry in 1994. This line was inspired by an unexpected stop in Verona, Italy, where she fell in love with the city and the courtyard of Romeo and Juliet. Then in 1998, Julie’s passion led her to create jewelry on a full-time basis, and her line of beaded jewelry grew. In mid-2005 Julie created a new women’s sterling silver line called Life Forms. Word spread fast about her new collection, and she was invited to launch her Life Forms jewelry line during the Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week.
<br><bR>
Julie creates her jewelry using the finest sterling silver, a strong yet vulnerable medium. All of her jewelry is skillfully crafted and shows the mark of her hand, reflecting the perfect imperfections of Life. Julie derives great pleasure from seeing her creations grace a woman’s natural beauty.</biography>

    <biography>Diego Rocha, the Brazilian born handbag designer started out in accounting in the financial field in Sao Paulo, before he began chasing his dream. Fashion is in Diego’s genes. His mother was a pattern-maker, and he grew up playing with needles, scissors, and colorful scraps of cloth. It’s only natural that the fashion industry called to him. Diego is inspired by interesting skins and animals, influenced by growing up in a country known for its huge variety of unusual wildlife.

Before choosing Chicago in 2005, Diego lived in New York where he perfected his skills. Creating his own collection, he locked himself in his apartment for six months and experimented with materials, struggling with unsuitable equipment as he taught himself techniques to crystallize his vision. This devotion to his craft shines through every Diego Rocha design.</biography>

    <biography>tonya gross is an aspiring couture headwear designer- aka milliner- based in chicago, il.

tg’s love of hats began at an early age in the wilds of northern michigan. she amuses her friends with stories of REALLY odd hats she found at thrift and department stores in the early 80’s to wear over her aquanet-superhold-unscented-robert-smith-inspired hair sculptures. several fantastic haircuts later and unsatiated in her search to find the creative accoutrement she longed for, tg left her ho-hum financial services career in mid-2005 to start making what she couldn’t find in stores (and to offer to you): handcrafted, quality, affordable (and sexy) headwear.

aspiring to be couture but not the ascot-y, derby-ish feather-flailing ones, tg strives for great textures, odd color combinations and interesting shapes... utilizing quality traditional millinery materials, vintage fabrics and accoutrement- sassy stuff- with an occasional feather.

    <biography>Among his earliest fashion inspirations were the women in his family, movie musicals and ballroom dancing.
While De Colon first aspired to act, he pursued set and costume design at the suggestion of his fashion-savvy
older sister, who saw a fit with his theatrical fascination and sketching skills. After seeing his first fashion show
at 14, he switched to a fashion focus. Even then, he envisioned himself as the Fred Astaire of fashion design with
Ginger Rogers as his muse.
<br><br>
This native New Yorker attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Following college, he freelanced
in design before moving to Puerto Rico where he opened a successful boutique. In early 2001, he was lured to

The pair began with a handful of stones and slowly fashioned a hobby into a business. Less than one year old, the small endeavor grew from a kitchen table operation to Bloomingdales.

Energized by achievement and inspired by each other, the duo was poised for success. Tragically the other shoe dropped. Cathy Gallagher died suddenly from advanced colorectal cancer. Motivated by her mother&#8217;s love and confidence Erin continued to design.

Today Erin continues to design jewelry from her Chicago studio, constantly seeking inspiration to push her designs in new directions, but never forgetting to inspire the glamour girl in all of us.

Her inspirations come from mother natures best gifts to us such as the ocean, the colorful springtime's and the snow white winter days. She strongly believes nature is full of endless inspirations. Over the years, many of her designs have been featured in fashion venues located all over Chicago, including a few shows at the Merchandise Mart, DuSable Museum and charity events for the American Cancer Society. <biography>Leber Jeweler Inc is proud to be the first jewelry store dedicated to socially-conscious and eco-
friendly fine jewelry. Since the 1990s, Joanne and Brian Leber have been designing our Earthwise Jewelry® Collection featuring Canadian diamonds, fairly traded gemstones, and recycled gold and platinum, thus offering alternatives to items made with conflict diamonds, unfair labor practices, and environmentally damaging mining.
<br>

As a third-generation jeweler established in 1921, we offer unmatched technical expertise and unique custom jewelry design. Brian, certified by the American Gem Society and the Gemological Institute of America, combines his knowledge of gemstones, jewelry making, art, and music, while Joanne uses her visual arts degrees to sketch and design their Earthwise Jewelry® Collection.
<br>

Equally important, we are dedicated to work towards a better world through direct involvement in a wide number of initiatives relating to human rights and the environment. Each year we commit a significant amount of time and financial resources towards advocacy efforts locally, nationally, and abroad in support of developmental projects throughout the globe.</biography>
